November 22nd is the day we leave. With each family we met at the airport. We said goodbye to them before customs control. It was very hard. We realize how much we have been attached to our host family. A few minutes later we spoke with a hostess who spoke French and then took a picture with the pilots of the plane. We were even invited into the cockpit before takeoff. We flew to 1pm and arrived at 8am on November 23nd Saturday. We were very happy to see our families and friends. Monday morning...

Friday November 15th, we celebrated Thanksgiving. We leave before the real so our families organised a Fakesgiving. It was with all the families of this exchange and with the teachers who are involved in this project. This celebration is really important in the USA because it's a part of the history of this country. Americans gather with their families and they eat turkey and different things like mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie... Generally, the turkey is pretty big. It's a day where we eat a...

Today, November 12th. We now have a week and a half left before leaving the American continent. With Sarah,a humanities teacher, we went to see a college basketball game. We left around 5:30 pm and ate at a Pizzeria before the game. Then, we took our tickets and we settled in the gym. There were already a few people in the stands. The match was Seattle University VS Pacific Oregon Boxers. Seattle won 115 to 81. In the room there was a good atmosphere and we were very happy to have shared this...

On the 5th of november, I went to the University of Washington. In one of the room, they were the historic evening with Eva Schloss, Anne Frank’s stepsister. Eva Schloss is a 90-year-old Jew and Holocaust survivor. The University of Washington's president, Ana Mari Cauce, asked her to tell us what does she lived and what happened in Auschwitz during the second World War. « I’m going to talk about my experience, tell people how terrible it was, how cruel people were, » Schloss said in a...

Yesterday was the 31st of october. It was the day of Halloween. Halloween is a very important event in the USA. The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats. Avery and I went trick or treating with Anna and Ambrine. It was really amazing to see...

In USA, Halloween is a important celebration. That's why, with my family we went to a big farm where we can find pumpkins. This farm is called Stocker. There are a lot of activities for everyone like a trampoline, cannon candy, but also target practice (with a ball)... The children were so excited and the adults too. We went into a maze of corn it was so funny. The ground had a lot of mud so our shoes were really dirty but it doesn't matter. And at the end, we bought a pumpkin to carve and make...

On the 26th of october, I went on a ferry to go to Vashon Island. Washington State is home to the largest ferry fleet in the US, and some of these run out of Seattle. Thanks to them, you can do a day trip pretty easily. A ferry to Vashon Island, one of the landmasses visible from Seattle, departs out of Fauntleroy terminal just south of West Seattle (near the place my hostfamily lives). While you can walk on to this ferry, it’s really better to bring the car or your bike along as Vashon is...

On the 27th, with Athena's family we went to the Space Needle. The Space Needle is a 185m tall tower located in downtown Seattle. It dominates the city in it's green park of "Seattle Center". Impossible to miss it. The space needle was built in 1962 during the great century 21 exhibition. This futuristic tower has become the emblem of the city. Once out of the elevator that was going up at a dizzying speed, I was amazed by the magnitude of Seattle. You could admire Seattle's magnificent...

Today, we went to the mountains to go hiking. It was an organized outing from school. We went to Talapus Lake to hike 6 miles (around 10 km). It took one hour to get there on the bus. For this trip, there were 20 people. We started hiking at 11 am. and finished at 3 pm. The weather was good but very cold. That's why everybody wore warm clothes and no cotton. We were able to see the snow on the mountains. It was really fun because we were with our friends. We were alone so it was a obligation to...

Today was the big day of our charity race. It was our first step in volunteer action. This morning we shared a quick reminder of the event at Community Meeting. With the help of a man named Nate who works in utility services, we were able to transport our equipment to Cal Anderson Park. The race loop measured approximately 400m. Many passerbyes were curious about what it could be. Around 3pm the first runners arrived. Some walked and some ran, remembering their pastry at the end (cookie /...
